BELIEF
This  is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad.  For those who take the time to read it, you'll see a letter from him to his Dad at the bottom. It  makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.

THE  MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.

For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done

March  23, 2003
Hey  Dad,
Do  me a favor and label this 'The  Marine'  and  send it to everybody  on your email list.
Even leave this letter in it.  I want this rolling all over the US; I want every home reading it.
Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it.
So can you please send this for me?  I would but my email time isn't that long
and I don't have much time anyway.
You know what Dad?   I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said
in His inaugural speech.  'When the time comes to lay down my life for my  country, I do not cower from this responsibility.  I welcome it.'  Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home.
I  love you all and I miss you very  much.
I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I  will be coming home soon.   Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself  too.
Aaron

Please  let this marine (and all our  military)
know  we care by passing his poem onto your  friends even if you don't usually take time to forward mail...do it this  time!

Thanks,

Let's help Aaron's dad spread the word.....
FREEDOM isn't FREE   Someone pays for you and me.

God bless you!

When 2nd Lt. James Cathey's body arrived at the Reno Airport , Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather on the tarmac.

During the arrival of another Marine's casket last year at Denver International Airport , Major Steve Beck described the scene as so powerful: 'See the people in the windows? They sat right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home,' he said 'They will remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should.'

The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. 'I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,' she said. 'I think that's what he would have wanted.'

"The Soldier"

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the Kingdom of God is nigh at hand.  Luke 21:31

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.  It is the soldier not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.  It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.  It is the soldier who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."  The poem entitled "What's a veteran"and was written by Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC.  When the soldier falls, whether it be through war, death famine or pestilence, he doesn't want Hell or Valhalla.  He wants Heaven, On his way, he will be comforted by the short credo written specifically for the end of his day, accompanied by a single bugle; Day is done, Gone the sun, From the hill,From the vale, From the Sky, All is well, safely rest, God is nigh"  ("Butterfield's Lullaby" by Daniel Butterfield.
